WHEN SHOULD I CONSULT A PHYSIO?
Physiotherapy can be helpful for people of all ages with a wide range of health conditions, including problems affecting the:
Bones, joints and soft tissue – such as back pain, neck pain, shoulder pain and sports injuries.
Pelvic health related issues such as incontinence, pelvic organ prolapse, bowel issues, sexual issues, pelvic pain and pre & post natal issues or rehab.
Physiotherapy can improve your physical activity while helping you to prevent further injuries.
DO I NEED A DOCTOR’S REFERRAL?
If you are planning on using medical insurance then it is likely that you will need a Dr's referral. It is best to check you policy to make sure.
You can do this with a quick phone call.
If you are not planning on using insurance then you will not need a Doctors referral.
WHAT IS YOUR NEW PATIENT PROCEDURE?
When you arrive for your consult you will be taken into the physiotherapy clinic room at my home and we will spend the first 15 to 20 minutes gathering a history of your primary complaint.
After this I will conduct a physical assessment. This might be done in various positions relating to when you get your symptoms. Perhaps in standing, lying, kneeling, crouching or during movement such as running or walking.
At this point we will discuss the findings and make a plan together on how we will progress with treatment and rehab for your injury.
WHAT SHOULD I WEAR?
Where clothing you are able to move freely in. Active wear and trainers is a good option.
